SIZE OF THE BED AND THE SPACES
Of course, the first thing to consider is the space we have available, from the size of the room to the encumbrance of the opening of doors and windows. Then let's talk about the size of the bed: generally the measurements are variable, since they do not depend solely on the measurements of the mattress, but also on the structure of the bed, i.e. headboard, footboard, edges, padding, ...
Keep in mind that, if the room at your disposal is small, it would be useful to avoid too bulky footboards and headboards that visually crowd the whole space. It is different, however, if the room is large: in this case you could also opt for a canopy solution!
There are many bed sizes: standard double, comfortable double, French double, single and a half, standard single and comfortable single.
Do not forget, that at least 50/60 cm of free space should be left around the bed for passage, even better if 60/70 in front of the wardrobe and chest of drawers.
TYPE, STYLE, MATERIALS AND COLORS
What about the style? Go with the free rein according to your tastes! The only advice we would like to suggest to you is to choose a style for the bed, as consistent as possible with that of the furniture in your room and suitable for your needs: for example, if you love reading in bed, we recommend that you choose a comfortable and soft headboard (in leather or fabric, preferably removable and washable).
If you need a space-saving solution, you could consider a container bed, always taking into account the difficulty in keeping the area under the bed clean.
Furthermore, in the event that you, or some members of your family, suffer from allergies, we would like to recommend a solution in wood, which does not require too much care, or in wrought iron or brass, as they are really easy to keep clean.
For the choice of colors, it would be good to take into consideration the shades used for walls and furniture and, if anything, think of a color that can not tire us over time, since the bed is an article that changes on average every ten years.
MATTRESS
In general, the mattress should be at least 10/15 cm longer than the height of the user; due to the increase over time in the average height of Italians, our country is also moving towards 200 cm long mattresses (in many Northern European countries the standard length is already of this size). In addition to the size, there are different types and materials: for example, in latex or latex foam (antibacterial and breathable), with springs and micro-springs (with differentiated portions to adapt to the different stresses of the body), memory foam (breathable and thermoregulation), etc .. IDEAL HEIGHT
The right height is first of all the one you think is most comfortable; however, it is always good to take into account the environment in which it is to be inserted. Remember that the beds of the past were very high, as well as for reasons of comfort, to be able to get away from the cold, while, on the contrary, modern beds are very low.
STAVES OR NET?
Undoubtedly, the choice between slats and network must be made in relation to the type of mattress: although generally we tend to always prefer slats, for a spring mattress, for example, a base as uniform as possible would be better, while for latex and memory foam, small slats with differentiated elasticity are recommended.
